Emporia State University Travel Grants for Study Abroad
ESU is committed to support students' global engagement. The Office of the Associate Provost has made available travel grants/scholarships funds to be awarded on a case-by-case basis. Important Information:
- Late travel grant applications will not be considered .
- Students must first apply for a study abroad program and then submit travel grant application. Application for travel grants without having submitted complete application paperwork , will not be considered.
External Funding
Besides the ESU Travel Grant, there are several extrernal sources of funding that are worth exploring for your plans. Some of these funding opportunities are good for college students and others for recent college graduates.
- Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship (for all students who are currently receiving Pell grants financial aid)
- Critical Language Scholarship Program (CLS) (for students learning less commonly taught languages in the U.S.)
- ISEP Annette Kade Scholarships (for ISEP students going abroad to France, Germany or Switzerland)
- Boren Awards. Scholarships and Fellowships for International Study for students interested in studying in regions deemed critical for U.S. interests (including Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin American, the Caribbean and the Middle East)
- Medicus Student Exchange (for students accepted to study abroad in Switzerland)
- Bridging Scholarship (for students studying abroad in Japan)
- John Peters Foundation (for students interested in studying international business abroad)
- Morgan Stanley Scholarship (for two undergraduate students interested in studying economics and international finance in Japan)
- Freeman-Asia Scholarship - for U.S. undergraduate students with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
- Fund for Education Abroad - General study abroad scholarships and specific scholarship for deserving GLBT students.
- Partners of the Americas Scholarship to Study Abroad in Paraguay.
- Phi Kapp Phi Study Abroad Scholarship - 50 grants available for programs starting between May 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. Apply here.
- Fulbright U.S. Student Program (for students who will soon graduate from college)
- Marshall Scholarship (for seniors interested in studying in the U.K. after college)
- DAAD Germany (for undergraduate students interested in pursuing studies in Germany
- Scholarship program SIP (Study & Internship in Germany) - UAS7 (for students interested in one semestre of academic work and one internship semester in Germany)
- America-Scandinavia Foundation (for studies in Scandinavian countries). For more information, click here.
- Fulbright U.S. Student Program (for students who will soon graduate from college)
- Grants for North-American Language and Culture Assistant in Spain (for student teaching in Spain. Knowledge of the Spanish language is required)
- Teaching Assistantship in France (for teaching English to French students of all ages)
- Teach in Korea (TaKL) (for students with at least 2 years of undergraduate studies completed)
- Teach in Korea (EPIK) (for students soon to graduate or with a B.A. degree)
- Jet Program in Japan (for recent graduates or soon to graduate students interested in serving as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs), Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs), or Sports Exchange Advisors (SEAs) in Japan.
