FRIENDS

GOALS

  • Provide opportunities to develop cross-cultural and personal understanding between members of the Emporia community and international students.
  • To introduce international students to the community and invite them to participate in local activities.
  • To encourage one-to-one acquaintances and friendships.
  • To provide an opportunity for international students to be invited to American homes.
  • To assist non-English speaking students to improve their communication skills.
  • To provide an opportunity for students to share their values and customs with the Emporia community.
  • To help the international students in attaining a better understanding of contemporary U.S. society.
  • To encourage community members to attend and participate in special ESU international activities and programs.
  • To develop programs and activities for international students and the community in addition to those sponsored by ESU.
  • To provide an opportunity for small inter-cultural discussion groups.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to every man and woman wishing to share humanitarian values or international understanding, cultural relationships and friendship. International students attending Emporia State University, visiting scholars, and guests are also encouraged to be members. These students and guests hope to develop a cultural and personal understanding with all of us in and around the Emporia community. Join us and meet with your new friends. Begin what will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience as big and exciting as our World. FRIENDS need you to be a friend.
