Child Care Information

The Family Resource Center Child Care Resource and Referral is one of seven district offices in Kansas. The offices are part of the Kansas Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (KACCRRA) network. This state network of resource and referral agencies provides professional development and technical assistance to child care providers, helps parents find quality child care, and educates the community on the importance of quality child care for all children, including infants, toddlers, and school age children.

Parents in need of child care may contact the district office 1-866-678-2548 and a referral specialist will match parents' child care needs with a list of child care providers. All providers on the list are in good standing with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The child care list provided by the agency is for referral purposes only and should not be taken as recommendations.

ESU has its own on campus daycare center, called The ESU Center for Early Childhood Education. The ESU Center for Early Childhood Education is licensed to provide childcare for children 12 months through school age. The ESU Center for Early Childhood Education operates on the same academic calendar as ESU during the fall and spring semesters. For more information click on the link above.

Healthy Internet Site Educates Parents, Teens and Children

Have you ever had to answer a question such as, “Why do we drool when we sleep?” or “Can you taste something if you can’t smell it?”?  Your children can find answers to these and other questions on the kids page of KidsHealth.  Children can discover healthy recipes they can fix for Mom and Dad (like Ants on a Log or Fruit Kabobs), learn about their body, read about dealing with feelings and more.  Teens have teenage-appropriate topics on the teen page, and parents can find articles and helpful information on raising children of all ages.

KidsHealth has been on the internet since 1995, and all articles and features are reviewed by physicians and health experts.  You can learn more about the website and its producer, Nemours Foundation’s Center for Children’s Health Media on the website itself.  You’ll find KidsHealth at http://www.kidshealth.org/
