On October 9, Emporia State University Special Collections and Archives presents Charles Delgadillo, who will read from his book “Crusader for Democracy: The Political Life of William Allen White,” published by the University Press of Kansas. “Crusader for Democracy” gives readers a behind-the-scenes view of the 20th-century political and economic order in the making, with William Allen White firmly in the middle, deploying the soft power of friendship and influence to advance the cause of the common man and the promise of equal opportunity as the very foundation of American democracy.
This event will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Special Collections and Archives exhibit hall outside Room 119 of ESU’s William Allen White Library. Copies of the book will be available for purchase following the reading. Audience is limited to 30.
