ESU co-sponsors Sustainable Communities Workshop
On Saturday Oct. 24, from 10 a.m.—2 p.m., Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College and will jointly sponsor the “Sustainable Communities Workshop.” Join us for a time of learning and discussion about various aspects of community building in a sustainable way. See what we have been doing in our community and be a part of the continuing direction of building Emporia as a sustainable community.
The conference’s keynote speaker will be Daniel Wallach, founder and director of Greensburg Greentown. A businessman and social entrepreneur, Mr. Wallach has been instrumental in developing the vision of rebuilding tornado-ravaged Greensburg as the “Greenest Town in America.” He has also been quoted in Time Magazine, USA Today, CNN, New York Times, and ABC and NBC morning shows; he was honored by the US Green Building Council in the video “15 years, 15 stories.”
Wallach is currently writing a book titled “Greentown USA,” scheduled for release this winter.
This workshop is free and open to all in the Emporia area. Lunch will be provided.
For more information, email Dr. Ellen Hansen or phone 620-341-5576.
The event is co-sponsored by the Department of Social Sciences and the Boertman Lecture Fund at Emporia State University and the Sustainability Center at Flint Hills Technical College.
