ESU homecoming royalty highlights leadership
Leadership on many fronts describes the 2009 Emporia State University homecoming royalty. The homecoming queen and king were crowned at halftime of the ESU-Missouri Western football game Saturday, Oct. 31.
Homecoming queen is Natalie Skaggs, a senior elementary education major from Gardner. President of her Chi Omega sorority, Skaggs is also a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in the field of education, and the Order of Omega, a Greek leadership honor society. “I try to lead by example and be a good role model for other students,” Skaggs said in an interview published in The Bulletin, ESU’s student newspaper.
Jonathan Krueger, a senior political science major from Bentley, is homecoming king. Well-known on the ESU campus for his role in student government, Krueger currently serves as president of Associated Student Government. He’s also involved in the Public Administration Club and Alpha Kappa Lambda fraternity. “I’ve had some opportunities to give back and I’ve taken those,” Krueger said in a profile of homecoming royalty candidates published in The Bulletin.
ESU students selected Skaggs and Krueger from a slate of ten candidates.
