Lane joins The Renaissance Group board of governors

Michael LaneA national organization committed to improving and reforming education now has Emporia State University’s president as one of its  leaders. Dr. Michael R. Lane was elected to the Board of Governors of The Renaissance Group (TRG), a national consortium of colleges and universities. One of five TRG members elected, Lane will serve a three year term on the board.

The Renaissance Group works on issues dealing with teacher preparation, promoting exemplary practices, partnerships and leadership that ensure high levels of teaching and learning for schools.

“I’m honored by being selected because I feel The Renaissance Group’s goals go hand-in-hand with what The Teachers College at Emporia State University has been so successful at achieving,” said Lane.

In addition to serving as Emporia State University’s 15th president, Lane is a member of Rep. Jerry Moran’s Executive Committee and the Advisory Committee for Science, Technology and the Future. He recently completed a term as a member of the Math and Science Education Advisory Committee to the Kansas Legislature.

Lane is currently a member of the Kansas Park Trust, Steering Committee for the Visitors Center at the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, and is a member of the Kansas Educational Leadership Commission’s Administrative Evaluation Design Team. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Business Hall of Fame, the Regional Development Association of East Central Kansas and the National Teachers Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Kansas Cavalry, Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Emporia.
