Breshears, Pitchford re-elected to lead ESU Classified Assembly
The organization representing Emporia State University's nearly 300 support staff members is keeping its leadership team intact for another year. Donna Breshears and Taime Pitchford were re-elected to one-year terms as chair and co-chair of ESU’s Classified Assembly.
Breshears is the public service administrator of University Advancement, a position she has held for the past three and one-half years. Prior to that, Breshears worked one and one-half years at the Teachers College. Pitchford is senior administrative specialist for ESU’s Public Affairs and Marketing office, where she has worked the past eight years.
“We’re the representatives of Emporia State’s classified employees ,” Breshears said of the twelve-person Classified Assembly organization. The group sponsors the annual Kansas Day observance on the ESU campus and hosts seminars dealing on a variety of self-improvement topics.
“We also meet twice a year with the Kansas Board of Regents as part of that agency’s Classified and Support Staff Council,” Pitchford added.
The organization also awards scholarships to deserving students. This fall’s recipients are James Drake, Anthony Markowitz, Anthony Mercer, and Kaila Mock, all of Emporia.
The organization resumes its schedule of monthly meetings in September.
