Wen selected as ESU School of Business dean

The new dean of Emporia State University’s School of Business brings 20 years of teaching experience on college campuses in Missouri, Illinois and New Jersey to his newest leadership position. ESU has named Dr. H. Joseph Wen to the position, effective in July.

Wen currently chairs Southeast Missouri State University’s accounting and management information systems department and is a professor of management information systems at SEMO’s Harrison College of Business, Cape Girardeau, Mo.

“I feel very excited about this opportunity,” said Wen. “When I was on campus interviewing for the position, I was impressed with Emporia State’s emphasis on quality and its student-centered atmosphere.”

Wen replaces Dr. Robert Hite as the business school’s dean. Hite, whose academic experience includes more than 30 years of university teaching and administration, will return to the classroom upon his retirement as dean. He will be a Marketing Research professor at ESU beginning in the fall, 2008 semester.

The ESU School of Business provides a comprehensive curriculum in several academic disciplines, including management, marketing, finance, accounting, economics and computer information systems. Approximately 1,000 students major in various areas of business each year.

The School of Business is the home of the Small Business Development Center, the Kansas Business Hall of Fame, Center for Business and Economic Development, and Center for Insurance Education. The Centers conduct research and provide a variety of services that promote businesses throughout the state and the region.

The School is fully accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International at both the undergraduate and the MBA level.
