Newberg Outstanding Seniors to be recognized Monday

Emporia State University will kick off Senior Week 2008 with the Dwight & Ida Curry Newberg Outstanding Senior Banquet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, in the Memorial Union Ballroom, to honor the Newberg nominees and recognize the Outstanding Senior and the Distinguished Senior.

Twenty-one seniors have been nominated for the Newberg recognition, and on Monday night, the top two will be named. The nominees are listed below; the Outstanding Senior receives a plaque and a $500 award, while the Distinguished Senior receives a plaque and a $250 award. For more on the Newberg award, click here. Senior Week, the annual celebration of 2008 graduates, is themed “Oh, the Places You’ll Go” and hosted by the ESU Ambassadors. In addition to the Newberg banquet, Senior Week events include the Emporia State Federal Credit Union Senior Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in Webb Lecture Hall; Senior Appreciation Day with discounts at local businesses on Wednesday; and Senior Night on the Town from 8 to 11 p.m. Thursday at Wheat State Grill in downtown Emporia.
