ESU recognizes employee service
A combined total of 840 years of service on the part of 46 employees was noted during Emporia State University’s Employee Service Recognition reception Friday, April 25. Judy Anderson, director of human resources, and Dr. Michael R. Lane, president, handed out pins and other gifts to ESU employees in recognition of their ten, 20, 30 and 40 year service anniversaries.

Ten year recognition went to the following: Susan K. Adam, Mathematics and Computer Science; Nikki L. Barnes, Technology and Computing Services; Phillip J. Bennett, The Teachers College; Mohammad I. Chowdhury, Business Administration and Education; William H. Clamurro, Modern Languages; Nancy A. Crumb, Technology and Computing Services; Scott S. Crupper, Biological Sciences; Mirah J. Dow, School of Library and Information Management; Dipak Ghosh, Accounting and Information Systems; Elizabeth Locey-Hampe, Modern Languages; Diane L. Miller, Psychology and Special Education; Michael A. Morales, Physical Sciences; Betty L. Norton, University Libraries and Archives; Linda K. Parks, Police and Safety; William S. Remington, Accounting and Information Systems; Marcia K. Schulmeister, Physical Sciences; Marshall D. Sundberg, Biological Sciences; Zane L. Swanson, Accounting and Information Systems; Barbara S. Receiving 20-year recognition were: Terry J. Barham, Music; Douglas K. Cooper, Graduate Studies; Myrna M. Cornett-DeVito, Communication and Theatre; Connie S. Dunbar, Business Affairs; Robert J. Goltra, Student Advising; Jule E. Kirk, Student Financial Aid; Susan J. Mai, Communication and Theatre; Kenna J. Reeves, Communication and Theatre; Mark S. Runge, Physical Plant; Penelope A. Speedie, Music; Terri L. Summey, University Libraries and Archives; Larry L. Thomas, Custodial Services; and Eric L. Trump, Physical Sciences.
Thirty-year service awards were presented to: Robert B. Catlett, Liberal Arts and Sciences; Pamela K. Fillmore, Graduate Studies; Beth A. Hanschu, University Libraries and Archives; Donna E. Hanson, Financial Aid; Nancy J. Hite, School of Business; Arthur J. Janssen, Math and Computer Science; Marion C. Jones, Student Financial Aid; and Stanley R. Kerbs, Physical Plant.
Three individuals were recognized for 40 years of service to Emporia State University: DeWayne A. Backhus, Physical Sciences; Donald S. Miller, School of Business; and Dennis E. Schmitt, Business Administration and Education.
In addition to the service awards, presentations included the Outstanding Classified Employee award to Gloria Swift, administrative specialist in the Office of International Education; and the Outstanding Unclassified Professional award to T. J. Rains, Technology and Computing Services. Those two awards included cash stipends provided by the Emporia State Federal Credit Union and Lyon County State Bank.
