Students from across the state unite to form the National Teachers Hall of Fame Honor Choir

On June 15, 117 singers from 20 different middle/junior high schools in Kansas will come together to perform at the National Teachers Hall of Fame (NTHF) Induction Ceremony.

Each of the 117 singers, the largest number of singers in eight years, was selected by his/her choral teacher to be part of the NTHF Honor Choir. The singers will rehearse together on June 14 and 15 at Emporia State University under the direction of Dr. Terry Barham, professor of music and director of choral activities at ESU.

"These students represent the best of the best among junior high age singers. They have great attitudes about working together; they are very talented. The result is a polished and exciting performance for the NTHF Induction Ceremony," Barham said. “"We invite parents, family, and friends to come hear this outstanding chorus perform during the induction ceremony on Friday evening, June 15, at 7:30 p.m.  Every year, people are a bit surprised by the sound, energy, and polish of these talented mixed quartets from all over Kansas."   

The singers will perform at the NTHF Induction Ceremony June 15 at 7:30 p.m. in Plumb Hall's Albert Taylor Hall. Five outstanding teachers from around the United States will be honored at this ceremony. The event is free and open to the public.
