Outstanding employees honored for service
Roy Mann and Marty Knoblock
Emporia State University honors an outstanding classified employee and an outstanding unclassified professional employee each year for their commitment and service to the University. An awards program was held to officially recognize these two outstanding employees as well as University employees who have rendered 10, 20, 30 and 40 years of service to the University.
This year’s recipient of the Outstanding Classified Employee of the Year was Marty Knoblock. Knoblock began working at ESU in 1974. She works and interacts daily with students and oftentimes the families of students. Her main goal is to work with students who need assistance in managing bills owed to the University. She assists the student to find alternative plans for paying tuition, fees, and housing charges.
In her nomination letter she was described as dedicated to students, families, faculty, and staff and one who promotes teamwork and cooperation as well as a person who takes on new challenges and learns everything she can about the process, procedure, rule, or regulation in order to properly handle the monies.
Knoblock received a $500 award provided by Angie Miller of the Emporia State Federal Credit Union and a bouquet of flowers from Riverside Gardens.
The recipient of the Outstanding Unclassified Professional Employee of the Year was Roy Mann, alumni relations director. Mann began working at the University in 1988. He works with a group of individuals numbering at least 40,000 on behalf of the University. He serves on the Homecoming committee, the athletic compliance committee, and the Memorial Union Board of Directors. He chairs the ESU Founder’s Day committee and coordinates ESU Day at the Kansas Legislature. He is described as upbeat, enthusiastic, encouraging toward students and alumni, respectful, and a great boss.
Mann received a $500 award provided by Larie Schoap of the Lyon County State Bank and a bouquet of flowers from Riverside Gardens.
