Nancy Knapp Memorial Scholarship recipient named
Lee Summit, Mo. native Jennie Gilmore has been named the 2006-2007 recipient of the Dr. Nancy Mayer Knapp Memorial Scholarship at Emporia State University. She was named the recipient of the competitive $1,800-scholarship during the Third Annual Nancy Knapp Scholarship Award Dinner on March 10, 2006.
Gilmore is pursuing a master’s degree in art therapy. She graduated from Truman State University in May 2005. She is also active in the Student Art Therapy organization. Gilmore was inducted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars in 2003 and Phi Eta Sigma, the national honor fraternity.
The scholarship honors Dr. Nancy Meyer Knapp, an ESU professor of psychology and art therapy who died shortly after retiring in 1999. The scholarship was established to encourage the development of the ESU Graduate Art Therapy Program and to recognize competent graduate students.
