John A. Blaufuss Memorial dedication and First Annual John Blaufss Scholarship Run

A memorial dedication in memory of long-time Emporia State University employee and friend, John Blaufuss, will be held June 15, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. in Union Square.
A modern version “Corky” statute will dedicated in memory of Blaufuss’ hard work and dedication to ESU. The dedication ceremony will include remarks by President Kay Schallenkamp.
The first annual John Blaufuss Scholarship Run will be held immediately following the dedication. There is a $5 scholarship run entry fee. All proceeds will go to the Presidential Academic Award (PAA) scholarship fun in the name of John Blaufuss.
This year the run will only be through the ESU campus. Future plans are to have a 5k run.
A reception at the Sauder Alumni Center will be held immediately following the run.
Blaufuss died December 22, 2005. He was struck by an automobile while jogging. He was a loyal and dedicated ESU employee for more than 30 years. Blaufuss became University Controller in 1973 after serving as business manager at the College of Emporia and St. Mary’s Hospital. He also served as interim executive director of University Advancement.
