The Capitol Federal Savings Scholars program recognizes students in the ESU School of Business who have graduated from a Kansas high school and have a minimum 3.25 grade point average. Selected students are also expected to develop and exhibit leadership skills while at ESU.

The program is especially important in recruiting, said John Rich, associate dean of the School of Business. Starting at $1,000 for freshmen, the award increases each year as the student progresses, reaching $2,000 for MBA students.

“We use it to try to attract incoming freshmen, high-caliber students that we might not otherwise be able to attract,” Rich said. “The competition for students with high ACTs and GPAs is pretty intense.”

Funded by Capitol Federal Savings, the scholarships are an investment in tomorrow’s leaders.

“These are high-caliber students, so their prospects of being professionally successful are really pretty great,” Rich said.
