ESU Greeks gearing up for new school year

By Mandy Davis

GREEK BBQ

ESU sorority members mingle at last year's Greek BBQ

A buzz of excitement is floating around Emporia State’s campus and that can only mean one thing – school is about to start.  With a new school year approaching the Greek community is gearing up for their annual recruitment.  This year is like no other and the Greeks will be out and about getting the word on the street to come join the fun.

“New students should look into Greek Life at ESU to enhance their opportunities to meet new people, achieve academically, learn leadership skills and serve the broader Emporia community. Alumni networking and mentoring helps illustrate the benefits of lifelong membership and giving back to the next generation of ESU students,” said Tara Benson, Greek Life Coordinator.

This year the sororities will be hosting Formal Recruitment August 17-20.

“I am very excited for recruitment this year!  I think that there is an amazing group of women who have already signed up and I know there are more women who want to experience this exciting time of the year!  I know all of the chapters as well as recruitment counselors have been working hard to make this a successful recruitment,” said Jess Price, Panhellenic Recruitment Chair.

The fraternities will be having Recruitment events August 13-29.

“I am really looking forward to fraternity recruitment. I think the chapters have a lot of new, innovative ideas and are expecting larger turnouts at their events. We have a great group of fraternity men behind the planning and I am excited to see what happens,” said Benson.
