ESU alum tapped as Web master
A new addition has been made to the Emporia State University Public Affairs and Marketing department.
Jeremy Luby has stepped in as the new University Webmaster for ESU. Having been interested in computers since age six, he brings with him much experience designing websites and working with computers.
Since I wrote my first computer program at six, I have wanted to work with computers. I began just playing around and now I have made a career out of it," he said.
Luby is no new face to ESU. He served as assistant University Webmaster, before his current position.
"Two of my initial goals for this position are to redesign the university homepage and launch a Spanish version of the website," Luby said.
As University Webmaster, Luby is responsible for a wide range of activities that includes maintaining the university website, developing and maintaining department websites, various multi-media projects and chair of the web advisory committee.
"Jeremy brings a wealth of knowledge and valuable experience to ESU," said Marjorie Werly, director of Public Affairs and Marketing. "We are always excited to have an ESU graduate as a member of our team."
Luby, a native of Reading , earned a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems in August 2003.
More recently, he completed a masters of business administration degree.
He has been a systems operator for Wal-Mart Stores, maintaining warehouse systems, trouble-shoot hardware and software problems and providing helpdesk consultations.
Luby says he hopes to complete a doctorate in computer science.
Zac Lavicky, Luby's predecessor as Web master, left in November for a job in Kansas City .
