The Office of Career Services is hosting their annual business etiquette dinner on Thurs., Feb. 24. The dinner will be held in the Memorial Union Kanza Room from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
This event is held each semester to educate students on correct social and fine dining skills.
"It is critical for students to have the social and fine dining skills that employers expect," said Susan Dollar, Career Services director. "In this competitive economic era, the finer social skills such as dinner etiquette, can give job candidates that extra edge. Employers tell us that students are often lacking these skills, particularly the fine dining manners."
Dollar said proper dining etiquette skills will not only help a student get a job, but it will help them keep a job as well.
"In order to move up in a company, you have to have the right presentation as well as the job competencies," she said.
According to Dollar, the fall business etiquette dinner was successful. "We had a record number attendance, it was sold out," Dollar said.
Throughout the dinner, Dollar will narrate each course and show a power point presentation. "We cover the dos and don'ts of fine dining. There's plenty of time for questions and answers and we try to have some fun, too," she said.
The dinner will consist of a salad, soup, main entrée, and dessert. Business attire is also required.
Tickets for the business etiquette are $10 per person. For more information, contact Career Services at 620-341-5407.
