"Buzz In" Selected As Name for Portal

Aniesa Slack - Portal naming contest winner
“Buzz In” is the name of the new portal set to go live in March 2006. Aniesa Slack, a junior Biology major, submitted the winning entry. Aniesa will receive the prize of $50 for her submission.
In September 2005, the Portal Naming Contest got underway. The members of the ESU Community were invited to submit entries for possible names for the portal that is set to go live in March 2005. Entries were submitted via an online form and were accepted for two weeks. Multiple entries were allowed, but only entries submitted with an ESU email address were accepted. After two weeks, a total of 409 entries had been submitted. Three hundred and four of those entries were unique.
From that list, each member of the Portal Core Team submitted their top three choices. The ESU Community was then invited to vote for one of these choices. After a week of voting, the top choices were presented with the tally of votes to the Banner Steering Committee for review. After reviewing the votes, the steering committee decided to present the choices to the President for her final approval. The name of the portal was deemed a decision that would reflect upon the university for a long time to come.
