ESU students to pay tribute to life and legacy of King

Emporia State University will celebrate the life and legacy of the late civil and human rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 16 with a day dedicated to his service and memory.
The annual celebration will feature keynote speaker Nadine Terry, Ombudsman, The Farm, Inc. and daughter of Paul Terry, Emporia High School’s first African American basketball player.
“Remember, Celebrate, Act!” is the theme for this year’s program. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom. Desserts and beverages will be provided from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m.
The program will also include a welcome by President Kay Schallenkamp, performances by ESU gospel choir, Harmonious Voices of Praise, Lowther North Project Quest program students and the Mt. Olive Children’s Choir.
Rosa Parks Scholarship winners and Paul Terry Scholarship winners will also be recognized.
