President's award for research and creativity
Dr. David Saunders, professor in the Department of Biological Sciences, was selected to receive the 2005 President's Award for Research and Creativity. This award was established in 1996 to honor an ESU individual who has been active in research, scholarly activity, or creative endeavors.
Saunders' research focuses on physiological ecology and has resulted in many publications in regional, national, and international peer-reviewed journals. He has given numerous invited seminars and presentations at regional, state, and national conferences and co-authors many of these with his students. In addition, he has received over $300,000 in research grants. He will be honored at the ESU Research and Creativity Forum on April 14 and will be the keynote speaker.
Research And Creativity Forum
The Research and Creativity Forum will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Memorial Union Colonial Ballroom with the poster session, which is intended to highlight research and scholarly activity of faculty and graduate students at ESU.
The award ceremony will begin at 3:00 and will open with the announcement of the Audrey S. Major awards for faculty research materials by University Libraries and Archives. Recipients of the Boylan Master's Thesis Award, the 2005-2006 Boylan Scholar Awards, and the Harold Durst Graduate Research Award will also be honored. Faculty who received research and creativity grants this spring will be recognized, and the award ceremony will conclude with the presentation of the 2005 President's Award for Research and Creativity. r.
