Family Day turns 51
Family Day, the event that has been apart of Emporia State University will be Saturday, September 25. Family day will be heading into its 51 st year at ESU, coming originally in 1953 as "Parent's Night." ESU has continued with its tradition and planned a variety of activities for visiting families ranging from food to football.
The festivities will begin Friday evening with a "Little Sibs Slumber Party." Students who live in the residence halls will have the opportunity to invite their younger siblings to come and stay the night. On Saturday to top off the events, the Memorial Union bookstore will be offering a special 25 percent off all clothing/spirit items purchased that day with a coupon.
Family Day activities include:
11:00 - 12:30 Family Feast
Enjoy a meal with the family! The menu includes pizza, salad, fried chicken, mashed potatoes and pasta. Please postmark RSVPS by September 20, 2004 .
11:00 - 12:30 Spirit Lane
Stop by Morse Hall Lawn to get your face painted, or show your pride with a temporary corky tattoo all while meeting an ESU athlete.
11:00 - 12:00 Pass, Catch and Kick Contest
Sign up in teams of two and compete for your chance to win free textbooks! The top three teams to qualify will compete for the grand prize during halftime of the ESU football game. Grand Prize: Up to $400 towards the purchase of textbooks in the MU. Other prizes include $50, $25 gift certificates to the MU bookstore.

11:00 - 12:45 HornetFest
ESU Inflatable Obstacle Course, Bungee Run, Football Toss, and Football Kick at the Milton Tennis Courts.
1:00 ESU Football vs Truman
After eating good food and hanging out with the family, head on over to Welch Stadium for some football action. Free youth tickets for those 12 and under, compliments of S&S Oil and Propane Co. Hurry and stop by any S&S Phillip 66 location in Emporia to pick up a ticket, tickets are limited.
