The following is a summary of faculty and staff accomplishment reported to ESU Public Affairs and Marketing in September 2004:

 

WHO, WHAT, WHEN, AND WHERE

APPOINTMENTS

  Dr. Connie S. Schrock , professor, Department of Mathematics, Computer Science and Economics, was selected to serve on the Program Committee for the national meeting of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators in Dallas , Texas in January 2005.

  AWARDS

Dr. Elizabeth Grandon , assistant professor, Department of Accounting and Computer Information Systems, on receiving the Best Paper Award at the recent Americas Conference on Information Systems conference in New York. The title of the paper is "Factors that Differentiate Between Adopters and Non-Adopters of E-Commerce: An Empirical Study of SMEs".

CONFERENCE

Jim Agee , Director of the Colorado Distance Education Program, Department of School of Library and Information Management, recently attended the 70th Annual Conference of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) in Buenos Aires , Argentina .

PRESENTATIONS

Dr. Jane Eberle , assistant professor, Department of Instructional Design and Technology, presented: "Changing Technology Careers: You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks" at the National Social Science Association's annual meeting in Las Vegas , Nevada in April.

Dr. Evandro Camara , associate professor, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, organized, and presented in two theoretical sessions on culture and education, respectively, at the Midwest Sociological Society meeting in Kansas City, Kansas April 2004.

PUBLICATIONS

Dr. Christopher Lovett , associate professor, Department of Social Sciences, published "Germans in Russia , 1763-1871" in The Volga Germans of West Central Kansas edited by William D. Keel with James L. Forsythe, Francis Schippers and Helmut J. Schmeller. The article is available from the Max Kade Center for German-American Studies at the University of Kansas .

Dr. Evandro Camara , associate professor, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, published an essay in an edited volume, published in Brazil . The essay is titled : A Historia Intima: Em Torno de Gilberto Freyre, Psicanalise, e Sociologias.

Dr. Nitham M. Hindi, former professor, Department of Accounting and Computer Information Systems, Dr. Donald S. Miller , professor, Department of Business Administration and Education, and Dr. Stephen E. Catt , professor, Department of Communication and Theatre, "Accounting Educators: Perceptions Concerning Communication," The National Accounting Journal, Volume 6, No. 1, Spring/Summer 2004, pp. 1 - 9.

The Roundtable publishes announcements about current and retired ESU faculty and staff. Graduate students are included only when accompanying an ESU faculty or staff member. Undergraduate students are not included.

Please identify all individuals named in your submission according to title (professor, associate professor, assistant professor, instructor, e.g.) and department (Department of Biological Sciences, Counselor Education and Rehabilitation Programs, e.g.). Include the designation "Dr." where appropriate.

If your submission lists someone from another university, please indicate the name and location (city, state) of the university.

The Roundtable publishes announcements in the following categories: appointments, awards, conferences, grants, presentations, and publications. Other categories may be included as needed. Announcements are published after the fact, so please hold future information and submit after occurrence.
