Sigma Pi Sigma names new inductees
Six physics students were inducted into the ESU chapter of the Sigma Pi Sigma, the national honor society for physics students. These inductees are Matthew Becker, Galva; Christopher Dobbs, Allen; Elizabeth Fitch, Emporia; Michael Newton, McPherson; Tony Ragsdale, Wichita; and Dunley Stults, Ottawa.
Qualifications for induction are based on grade point average, and the completion of a specified number of hours of physics courses. Induction in to Sigma Pi Sigma is one of the highest honors accorded to an undergraduate physics major or teaching field aspirant who has met the requisites for induction.
The ESU chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma was established in 1966. The national president at that time was L. Worth Seagondollar, a 1941 graduate of ESU, and 1971 Distinguished Alumnus of ESU. The Sigma Pi Sigma also has a national student award named after him.
