author to speak at reading conference
An educator and children’s author will speaking at the sixth annual Kansas Regional Reading Recovery Conference February 23 at ESU.
Dr. Steven L. Layne serves as a national literacy consultant, motivational speaker, featured author, as well as an adjunct faculty member at Wheaton College where he teaches courses in children's and adolescent literature. He has received awards and good reviews for his work in the classroom as well as the books he has authored which include children’s picture books, young adult fiction, and a book of poetry.
The Reading Recovery conference, to be held in the Memorial Union, is sponsored by the Jones Institute for Educational Excellence. Reading instruction experts from across the country will present at the conference, including:

The Kansas Regional Reading Recovery Training Center currently oversees ten Teacher Leaders and 154 Reading Recovery Teachers and Teacher Leaders serving 113 schools.
