Alumni board welcomes new members

The ESU Alumni Association has elected three new members to its board of directors to serve three year terms that begin in June.

The association has also chosen a president-elect and named two current members to their second three-year terms.

The new Alumni Association board members include:

Myrl Cobb (BSB 1965, MS 1966), Topeka

Cobb is Vice President of Strategy and Architecture in the Information Services and Technology deptartment for Payless ShoeSource. He is a Past Master of Orient Lodge No. 51 and a member of the Scottish Rite and Arab Shrine, in Topeka, and the National Retail Federation. Payless ShoeSource honored Cobb with the Millennium Award for his leadership during a three-year Y2K project in 2000 and he also was the recipient of the Leadership Award for contributions to the company in 2002.

Floyd Hoelting (BA 1968, MS 1969), Austin, Texa

s

Hoelting is Director of the Division of Housing and Food Service at The University of Texas at Austin. Hoelting holds an educational doctorate from Oklahoma State University. He is a member of several national-level higher-education related organizations, including the National Association of Campus Auxiliary Services and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators.

He has received several awards for his work, including the Eyes of Texas Excellence Award, the Golden Award for Cultural Diversity from the National Association of College Auxiliary Services and the Humanitarian Award from Illinois State University. In addition to completing consultant contracts on over 300 campuses nationally and in Canada, Hoelting has authored dozens of books, chapters and professional journal articles.

Rodney Turner (BSE 1971, MS 1974), Wichita

Turner is the vice president for membership services, Wichita Independent Business Association. A former teacher and sales representative, Turner is an active member of the ESU South Central Kansas Alumni Chapter and is a licensed private pilot.

Re-Elected members and President-Elect:

Matthew Brillhart (BSE 1994, MS 1996), Kansas City, Mo.

Brillhart is Director of Education of the Phi Delta Theta International Fraternity Headquarters. Brillhart begins his second terms and will serve as Alumni Association President-Elect beginning in June.

Richard Nienstedt (BS 1978), Fort Scott

Nienstedt is the city manager for the City of Fort Scott and serves as an adjunct professor at Fort Scott Community College. Nienstedt is the past director of the Kansas Association of City Management, director of the Fort Scott Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the International Association of City Management. He currently serves on the Fort Scott Presbyterian Village Advisory Board of Directors.

ESU Alumni Association Board members are advocates of ESU and use their talents to plan special events and programs for alumni, recruit new students, promote fundraising for scholarships, interact with Kansas legislators, and serve as voices for the more than 51,000 E-Staters they represent.
