ESU announces 2004-2005 Capitol Federal Savings Scholars
Sixteen Emporia State University business students have been honored through one of ESU's most distinguished scholars programs.
The third class of Capitol Federal Savings Scholars includes freshmen accounting majors Brenda Hughes, Wellsville; and Amy White, Nickerson; freshman business education major Jacob Walker, Derby; sophomore marketing major Mitchell Spencer, Wellington; junior accounting major Blake Fiene, Valley Center; senior computer information systems major Marc Connelly, Lawrence; senior accounting major Jessica Tufts, Emporia; and M.B.A. students Erin Carnahan, Prairie Village; Rebecca Cooper, Emporia; and Sherry Moffitt, Eudora.
In addition, six students honored last year have returned as Capitol Federal Savings Scholars this year: sophomore business administration major Janelle Shoup, Burlington; sophomore accounting major Derek Young, Hesston; junior accounting majors Rachel Hoopes, Emporia; and Harmonie Zdanek, Overland Park; senior business administration major Brett Henry, Topeka; and M.B.A. student Angela Teter, Princeton.
The Capitol Federal Savings Scholars program recognizes students in the ESU School of Business who have graduated from a Kansas high school and have a minimum 3.25 grade point average. Students selected as CFSS are also expected to develop and exhibit leadership skills while at ESU.
This scholarship is renewable and is awarded in addition to other university scholarships, such as Presidential Academic Awards and Guaranteed GPA Scholarships. The annual awards range from $1,000 for freshmen to $2,000 for graduate students.
ESU offers a variety of scholarships to help students pay for their education. The university offers more than 800 endowed scholarships in all majors.
