Career fair offers job market preview
A career fair organized by students of the ESU School of Business last Thursday drew 37 companies interested in spotting potential future applicants.
“We’re impressed with the great turnout,” said Don Thomas, Kansas agency director for Farm bureau Financial Services, one of the fair’s visiting employers. “The students have shown a lot of enthusiasm and are very interested in the job market.
“We were impressed with the quality of students here, and how well they were able to carry on a conversation,” he said.
While a few employers discussed position openings, most attended to make initial contact with students and help them learn about the companies and their expectations.
Ninety-three students took advantage of a new “MonsterTRAK” service
to prepare
electronic resumes as many companies no longer accept applications
on paper. MonsterTRAK allows applicants to set up an online account
continuously update
personal data which employers can also search and access.
