Hashmi
named to Insurance Hall of Fame
Sajjad Hashmi, dean of the ESU School of Business, joins the ranks of the states insurance leaders as the newest inductee into the Kansas Insurance Hall of Fame.
Hashmi received the honor at a May 9 meeting of the Kansas Insurance Education Foundation. Other inductees have included CEOs Howard Fricke of Security Benefit Group and John Graham of Kansas Farm Bureau.
Assistant Insurance Commissioner Bob Tomlinson presented the award. "The importance of consumer insurance education has never been more apparent than in the aftermath of the recent series of devastating tornados that hit Kansas," he said.
"Many Kansans lost everything they owned except for their property and casualty insurance."
"Dr. Hashmi should be very proud of the role he has played in helping Kansans be better informed insurance consumers," said Tomlinson.
Under Hashmi's leadership, the ESU School of Business created the Center for Insurance Education, which publishes, along with KIEF, the Kansas Insurance Fact Book and Teacher Insurance Resource Guide.
Hashmi was also recognized by KIEF with a contribution in his name to a scholarship fund established in his name at ESU.
Dr. Hashmi will begin his retirement this summer after 20 years as ESU School of Business dean.
