ESU honors Shepherd Scholars
ESU will honor 13 juniors for their outstanding academic achievements and contributions during an awards ceremony Thursday, May 1 at 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Kanza Room.
To be eligible, a student must be an ESU junior who has completed at least 60 credit hours of coursework and has maintained a minimum 3.5 grade point average. Students who meet these criteria must be nominated for the honor, and all nominations undergo a rigorous committee review. Up to 15 juniors may be chosen each year.
Honorees receive a plaque commemorating their selection, a $1,200 scholarship, and are designated ESU Shepherd Scholars during their senior year.

The Shepherd Scholars program was established in 1994 by Emporians R. Hershel and Augusta Shepherd. Hershel Shepherd died in 2001, but Augusta Shepherd will attend the awards ceremony to honor this year's recipients as well as pay tribute to her late husband.
