ESU announces Outstanding Senior nominees and Outstanding Recent Graduates
Thirteen seniors and three recent graduates will be honored during Senior Day 2003 activities at Emporia State University on Monday, April 21, 2003.
The Dwight and Ida Curry Newberg Outstanding Senior and Distinguished Senior awards, as well as the Outstanding Recent Graduate awards, will be presented during a banquet scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Kanza Room.

Outstanding Recent Graduates received their bachelor's degrees from ESU within the past 10 years. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, and the Teachers College each select one award winner.
The 2002 Outstanding Recent Graduates are:
John A. Blauffuss, Jr. (B.S.B. 1994),
Frisco, Texas, is the recipient for the School of Business. He is a senior manager of assurance and advisory services for Deloitte & Touche LLP in Dallas, Texas. Blaufuss is originally from Olpe.
Benjamin Patrick Butler (B.F.A. 1997),
Brooklyn, N.Y. is the recipient for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. A studio artist, Butler holds a master's in fine arts from the Chicago Institute of Art. Twenty of his pieces were recently on display in a solo exhibit entitled "Mountain Paintings" at a New York gallery. Butler is originally from Wamego.
Marcie (Hamilton) Frederickson (B.S.E. 1997, MS 2001),
Peabody, is the recipient for The Teachers College. A counselor at Wichita East High School, Frederickson has garnered national attention for her work in diversity education. She co-sponsors a school club called Students Against Prejudice, which was recognized on the NBC "Today" show earlier this year. Frederickson is originally from Holton.
