Festival of Trees begins FridayDecember 2, 2013
Bidders can take home a fully decorated Christmas tree and support Emporia State University scholarships during the Sixth Annual Festival of Trees.
At least 18 trees will be decorated by campus and community organizations then auctioned off with all proceeds going to the general scholarship fund. The decorated trees will be on display in Main Street of Emporia State’s Memorial Union. They will be judged for prizes in categories including general Recognized Student Organization; Greek life; ESU offices, multicultural and international; churches and schools and community and businesses as well as Best of Show.
Judging of the trees and a silent auction begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6. The Festival of Trees will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in the Memorial Union. The festival includes music and dance performances, an arts and crafts show and sale, refreshments, prize awards and the tree auction.
The event is sponsored by Emporia Brown Express Athletic Club, ESU Karate Club and the Memorial Union.
