Report on Emporia State housing is under studyDecember 2, 2011
A consultant’s report on Emporia State University’s student housing has been accepted and is currently under review by university staff, according to ESU Interim President Ed Flentje.
“Given the long-term impact of student housing on the university,” Flentje said, “any final action on the report will await the appointment of a new university president.”
In April 2011, ESU officials selected the program management firm of Brailsford & Dunlavey to complete a student housing market analysis. Part of the work included surveying students about their needs, desires and perceptions of ESU’s housing options.
ESU’s student housing program is an important part of the educational and developmental mission of the university. Students living in the residence halls find support as they make the transition from living with their families to becoming independent adults.
The Kansas Board of Regents has said it plans to name ESU’s 16th president this month.
