Kanza Bowl tickets available, activities planned for Emporia State football fansNovember 19, 2012
After the turkey leftovers are packed away and Black Friday shopping is done, Emporia State football fans can spend the rest of the holiday weekend supporting the team in the Kanza Bowl. Kickoff for the game against Texas A&M-Kingsville will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25 at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka, but activities begin long before that.
Tickets for the game cost $10 and are available at multiple locations in Emporia — Union Services in the Memorial Union on the ESU campus, both Reeble’s Country Mart stores — 115 Commercial St. and 1020 Merchant St. — plus Price Chopper, 2703 W. Highway 50, and Peerless Tire, 2920 W. Highway 50.
The Ramada Inn Downtown, 420 S.E. Sixth Ave., is the team hotel and rooms are available for $69 — ask for the Kanza Bowl rate — and includes a hot breakfast. For reservations call (785)-234-5400.
The Kanza Bowl Banquet is at the Ramada Inn at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23. It will include a talent show by players from each team. Tickets cost $30 and must be purchased in advance. Call (785) 215-8275.
The Emporia State Alumni Association is host for a pep rally from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Blind Tiger, 417 S.W. 37th St., Topeka. Also on Saturday, the Kanza Bowl is sponsoring a Junior Kanza Bowl tournament with championship games played at 8 and 9:45 a.m. Sunday.
On Sunday, the pregame Fan Fest begins at 11:30 a.m. outside Erwin-Weaver Football Stadium in Hummer Sports Park, 2751 S.W. East Circle Drive, Topeka. Events include inflatables, live blues music and barbecue from Smoke on the Water Productions and a barbecue contest.
