Free tickets just one of many reasons to attend Thursday’s Emporia State football gameOctober 23, 2012
A buy-one-get-one-free ticket promotion will make it easy for fans to pack Welch Stadium on Thursday when the undefeated Emporia State Hornets take on the Missouri Western Griffons in a game that will be televised on the MIAA network, but not available in the Emporia area.
This is the final regular-season home game of the year for the No. 15-ranked Hornets. They’ll take on the No. 12-rated Griffons in a game that features the top two offenses in the MIAA with Emporia State leading the league in passing offense and Missouri Western having the top rushing attack in the conference. Fans are encouraged to wear black to the game to Black Out Welch Stadium.
Kickoff for the game is at 6:07 p.m. Thursday with ticket windows opening at 4:30 p.m. and stadium gates opening at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $12 for reserved seats. General admission tickets cost $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 4 through high school and seniors age 65 and older.
Anyone purchasing a GA ticket in advance can get a second ticket of equal or lesser value for free. The offer is good at ticket outlets in Emporia’s Price Chopper and Country Mart grocery stores as well as at Union Services in Emporia State’s Memorial Union, the on-campus ticket outlet. Tickets can be ordered from the ESU ticket outlet by phone and picked up at Will Call at the stadium. Call (620) 341-6378 or toll-free at 1-877-341-6378.
The buy-one-get-one special will not be available at the stadium ticket windows.
Pregame festivities begin at 3 p.m. with the Hornet Walk. Fans are asked to line the route the team will take from the pregame meal in Memorial Union to Welch Stadium. The team will exit the Union through the north doors by Wooster Lake, then walk along Wooster Drive, which runs around the east side of the lake then in front of Singular/Trusler halls. The team will enter the stadium on the east side.
Tailgating begins at 4 p.m. at both the Watering Hole on the Milton Tennis Courts and the Black Hole on the pedestrian mall in front of Morse Hall.
