Shred Day at ESU (Monday, Oct 14 at 10AM)October 8, 2013
Shred Day 2013!
Do you have boxes of documents that need to be shred to meet campus policy? Or maybe just a folder of documents? Shred Day@ESU 2013 is almost here! Information Technology has contracted with Document Resources to hold the second annual Shred Day@ESU.
The event is scheduled for Monday, October 14, from 10 am until noon in front of the Information Technology offices located in Butcher Education Center. Departments will be asked to place paper documents needing to be shredded into boxes and bring them to Butcher Education Center. Bags of shredded materials can be accepted as well. The contact bringing the documents to be shredded will be asked to sign an authorization document giving permission to Document Resources Inc. to accept, destroy, and recycle materials.
Documents to shred include:
- Reports with sensitive information (i.e., SSNs, birthdates, credit card numbers)
- Student papers with personal identity information and grades
- Forms with credit card information
- Personnel files
- Other sensitive papers with identity or financial information
Before destroying any documents, departments should review the Records Retention and Disposition Schedule located at http://www.kshs.org/recmgmt/retention_schedule_entries/search/agency:/agencyname:Emporia%20State%20University/subagency:/keyword:/kar:/id:/submit:SEARCH/searchtype:state
There is a limit of 5 boxes per department. If your department has more than 5 boxes of shredding, please contact Cheryl O’Dell at email@example.com before October 14.
