Show support for the hometown teamAugust 29, 2012
When the Emporia State Hornets kick off the 2012 football season against Fort Hays State in Welch Stadium, fans will have great ways to show their spirit and support.
First — at about 4 p.m. Thursday, the football players will leave their team meal in the Memorial Union and head to Welch Stadium to dress for the game. Fans are encouraged to line the team’s route and cheer them on, handing out high fives along the way.
The team will leave from the north entrance to the Union (by Office of International Education and Career Services), walk through the parking lot on the east side of Wooster Lake, then down the street in front of Singular/Trusler to enter the east side of the stadium.
Second — musical duo Gabe & Benny (Emporia State’s own juniors, Gabe Andrews and Benny Bowden) will perform their hype song during pregame of Thursday’s game.
Fans in the stadium by 6:40 p.m. can warm up with the Marching Hornets before Gabe & Benny perform “Right Now” before the teams come back on the field. The Stingers, cheer squad and Corky have plans to help the crowd participate in the song.
Tickets for Thursday’s game, designated as the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame Game, cost $9 for adult general admission, $7 for child/senior general admission and $13 for reserved chair back seating on the west side. Ticket booths open at 5:30 p.m.; stadium gates open at 6 p.m.
