Union Activities Council has semester of entertainment planned

The summer was busy for students serving on the Union Activities Council. They planned a concert featuring The Paperclips for the Aug. 17 Party on the Lawn and already have the fall 2011 semester filled with events.

UAC is the premiere programming board on campus. The group brings everything from comedians, music, movies and more to campus for free. It also sponsors $2 movie nights at Emporia’s local movie theater. The upcoming events are:

•    Aug. 31 — HUGE Activities Fair: Solo Circus, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Union Square and the Pedestrian Mall.
•    Sept. 16 — Movie on the Lawn: “Toy Story 3,” 7 p.m. on Morse Hall lawn.
•    Sept. 17 — Family Day Concert: Stars Go Dim, 4 p.m. east of the HPER Building.
•    Oct. 5 — Night at the Movies: $2 movies, time to be announced at Flinthills 8 Cinemas, Flinthills Mall.
•    Oct. 14 — Homecoming bonfire, 8 p.m. in Wilson Park.
•    Oct. 27 — Ghost Hunter: Jeff Davis, 7 p.m. in Webb Hall of the Memorial Union.
•    Nov. 2 — Day of the Dead, 6 p.m. in the Sunken Garden.
•    Nov. 3 — Battle of the Bands, 7 p.m. in Albert Taylor Hall.
•    Nov. 16 —Night at the Movies: $2 movies, time to be announced at Flinthills 8 Cinemas, Flinthills Mall.
•    Dec. 12 — Late Night with Ron Johnson, ventriloquist, 8 p.m. in Webb Hall of the Memorial Union.
