Summer Theatre presents 'Barefoot in the Park'June 26, 2011
The 57th summer theatre season from ESU Theatre continues July 6-9 with one of America’s favorite comedies, “Barefoot in the Park” by Neil Simon.
Home from their honeymoon, newlyweds Corie and Paul begin married life in a tiny walkup apartment in New York City in 1964. Paul is a little up tight and Corie a spontaneous free spirit. As they adjust to married life, they have to contend with a lack of heat, a leaky skylight, several flights of stairs, an odd neighbor, and Corie's well-meaning mother.
One of Neil Simon’s most delightful and popular comedies, “Barefoot in the Park” is under the direction of Theresa Mitchell. Amanda Dura is the costume designer and the set is designed by 2011 grad Brianne Simon. Craig Moxon is the Technical Director.
The cast features several ESU Theatre favorites. Noah Mefford (senior, Burlington) is the newlywed husband Paul. Trinity Standridge, junior from Olathe, plays his wife Corie. Ruthanne Rosenbrook, junior from Merriam, plays Corie’s mother. The charming neighbor Victor Velasco is Andrew Walker, junior, Wichita. The cast is rounded out by Tommy Govert, senior, Arkansas City as the Delivery Man and Amanda Devine, senior from Hutchison as the phone repairman.
