Students serve as Peer Academic Leaders
June 20, 2012A group of Emporia State students have been busy this summer assisting new students in the enrollment process as Peer Academic Leaders during Hornet Connections.
PALs is a student-mentoring program created in spring 2012. PALs work with the Student Advising Center to create and market programming primarily for first-year students and assist with Hornet Connection sessions by answering questions from incoming freshmen and their parents regarding the freshman first-year experience. Peer Academic Leaders also serve as role models for first-year students.
Criteria for selection as a PAL included being a full-time student with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and being comfortable talking to groups and answering questions. Students serving as PALs are:
