The ESU Alumni Association’s 2014 Volunteer Appreciation Event recognized University Service Citation Recipients including: Don Hill, retired pharmacy owner and Kansas Legislator since 2003 and Gail and George Milton, Emporia community residents since the late 1960s. Emporia State University finished in the top 100 out of over 300 NCAA Division II schools in the Learfield Sports Director’s Cup standings for the 12th straight year.
Deloitte LLP has named Emporia State alum, Craig Kuckelman, Kansas City managing partner. Kuckelman earned a BSB in accounting in 1991 and currently serves on the Business Alliance for the School of Business.
The Kansas Idea Network of Biomedical Research Excellence has awarded ESU $348,375 to support Undergraduate Research in Biomedical Sciences. This award primarily focuses on renovations for research space in the Department of Physical Sciences.

Former Hornets, Bill Freeman and Bill Tidwell, will be inducted into the 2014 Class of the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 5th at the Wichita Boathouse.
During a recent conference, ESU shared best practices for implementing Ellucian eTranscripts sharing their experiences in being the first Banner ERP institution to implement the eTranscript solution. More than 300 higher education institutions from across the United States participated.
This is the 12th straight year the Emporia State track and field men have scored at the national meet and both teams have scored in 20 of the last 22 outdoor national championships. The Emporia State men finished 19th and the Hornet women were 67th at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
At the recent NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships, Payson Maydew and Briar Ploude both took third place. Maydew shattered his own school record with 7,413 points in the decathlon while Briar Ploude cleared 6-11.75 (2.13m) in the men’s high jump. Nikki Wetstein placed eighth in the women’s 100m hurdles with a time of 13.85. Peyton Weiss and Payson Maydew have also earned CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District honors.
