Learn about severe weatherMarch 26, 2014
What’s the difference between a severe thunderstorm watch and a warning? Are straight-line winds as dangerous as tornados? What does a bike helmet have to do with thunderstorms?
Find the answers to these and other weather questions at noon Monday, March 31, when Matt Miller, chief meteorologist for the Storm Track Weather Team at Kansas First News, comes to Webb Hall in the Memorial Union on the Emporia State University campus.
Miller is a native of the Midwest so he grew up with the thunderstorms, tornadoes and other severe weather we face here. Along with his award-winning on-air duties, Miller teaches meteorology, weather facts and safety to students of all ages.
The free event is open to all.
