Explore cultures at the International Food Festival
February 28, 2012Take a voyage of culinary and cultural discovery during the International Food Festival this weekend.
From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, the atrium of Visser Hall will be filled with food booths from the Chinese Student Association, ESU Environmental Club, ESU Spanish Club, German Club, Hispanic American Leadership Association, JA Sakura, Korean Student Association, Muslim Student Association and Saudi Club.
The groups will prepare and sell food native to their cultures. The environmental club will feature vegetarian dishes.
Selections include kefta (Middle Eastern spiced meatballs), chicken or beef Shwarma (thinly sliced meat rolled up in flatbread or pita), baklava, moimoi (steamed bean pudding), Salvadoran pupusa (stuffed flatbread), flan, teriyaki chicken sushi, bratwurst, sauerkraut, kartoffelsalat (German potato salad), gurkensalat (cucumber salad), sweet and sour pork, spring rolls, fried rice, wonton soup, anmitsu (Japanese dessert), bibimbap (Korean mixed rice) and bulgogi (Korean marinated meat).
