Emporia State art faculty works on displayFebruary 2, 2012
Anyone who has ever wondered what faculty do with their time when not in the classroom should attend the opening reception of the Passion Fruit exhibit at Emporia State’s Norman R. Eppink Art Gallery.
The Passion Fruit show, which opened Jan. 31 and runs through March 22, has a simple theme — to highlight artworks designed by faculty members in the ESU art department that were created or realized during an artist residency, fellowship, sabbatical or workshop they attended or directed.
The exhibit features works by Eric Conrad, James Ehlers, Roberta Eichenberg, Patricia Kahn, Stephanie Lanter, Patrick Martin, Larry Schwarm and Derek Wilkinson. The media exhibited include blown, cast and hot-sculpted glass, mixed-media ceramics, wood, engravings, monotype prints, personal sketch book, mixed media drawings and paintings and printed material.
The Eppink Gallery is located in King Hall. The opening reception will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, in the Bruder Theater Lobby adjacent to the gallery. At 6 p.m. that night, the exhibiting artists will participate in an informal gallery talk, sharing information about the programs that helped support the creation of their works in the exhibit
The Eppink Gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
