Dr. Manjula Shinge is an Assistant Professor in the Master of Arts degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Program. Some of the courses she teaches are Second Language Acquisition, Cross-Cultural Communication, Sociolinguistics, Individual Differences in Language Learning, and Practicum.
Manjula Shinge completed a Master's degree in English Literature, and two Bachelors' degrees in English Literature and Education from universities in India . After which, she taught for a few years before earning a second Master's degree and a Doctorate in Linguistics from the University of Florida, USA. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in TESOL from the University of Florida and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of Hong Kong .
The 25 years that Dr. Shinge has spent teaching in India , Hong Kong , Florida and Kansas at the secondary, undergraduate and graduate levels have been enriching and rewarding. Her research interests, influenced by her teaching career, are ESL Teaching Techniques and Methodology, Language Acquisition, Discourse Analysis, and Cross-Cultural Communication.
