ESU Stingers
The squad's primary focus is to generate school spirit and lead the crowd in support of Emporia State University athletic teams. At every home football game, the Stingers’ duties consist of marching with the band at halftime, performing sideline routines during the game, and leading the crowd in school spirit. At home basketball games, the Stingers perform several dance styles (pom, kick, jazz, and hip hop) for their halftime routines. They also perform sideline routines and cheer with the ESU Cheer Squad. Other functions of the squad are to serve as ambassadors to the Athletic Department by helping with pre-game activities and community service events, and marching with the band in several Emporia community parades. The squad practices three times each week and abides by NCAA rules and guidelines.
