Stingers Dance Team

The Stingers Dance Team is an integral part of the energetic environment at Emporia State University. Through the programs' unique performances and dedication to Hornet pride, the Stingers generate school spirit and lead fans in support of all ESU athletic teams.

|| Experience the Excitement ||
At ESU football games, the Stingers perform a pre-game show and halftime show with the Emporia Marching Hornets, perform jazz, pom, and hip hop sideline routines during the game, and lead the home Hornet crowd in school spirit. At home basketball games, the Stingers perform a variety of dance styles for their halftime routines, including jazz, pom, hip hop, character and lyrical/modern. They also perform sideline routines and cheer with the ESU Cheer Squad.
|| Engage in Opportunities ||
The Stingers serve as ambassadors to the Athletic Department, assist with pre-game activities, participate in community service events, host the annual ESU Lil' Stingers Clinics, and march with the Emporia Marching Hornets for community parades. The Stingers have a number of opportunities to perform beyond the Emporia area, receiving invitation to dance at the WEPAC "Hoops for Hope" basketball fundraiser for breast cancer in Ashland, Kansas, to perform at the annual Gardner-Edgerton Spring Show, and the MIAA conference in Kansas City, Missouri. The team practices five times a week and abides by NCAA guidelines.
