Cheer Squad
Tryout Information


ESU Cheer Squad
The ESU Cheer Squad is a co-ed cheer squad who cheers at all home football and basketball games, and occasionally at away games. The squad's primary focus is to generate school spirit and lead the crowd in support of Emporia State University athletic teams. Another function of the squad is to serve as ambassadors to the Athletic Department by helping with pre-game activities and community service events. The squad practices three to four times each week and abides by NCAA rules and guidelines.

Open Gym
Optional (Opportunity to work on jumps, tumbling, motions, and partner stunts)

  • Sunday, April 6 2-5 pm HPER Building, Gym B
  • Thursday, April 10 6-9 pm HPER Building, Gym B
  • Sunday, April 13 2-5 pm HPER Building, Gym B

The HPER Building is located on the north end of campus, about ¼ of a mile south of the Merchant Street I-35 exit #130.

Tryouts
Tryouts are closed to the public.

*Tumbling is optional, for both men and women, but is highly suggested.

Application Deadline
The application (along with a $10 application fee made out to ESU) can either be mailed in advance or brought to open-gym/tryouts. Click here for the application.

Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded based on experience and skill. Every member must be a full-time student and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 each semester. The squad is also expected to help raise funds through a variety of activities.
