Donald L. Bruyr Mathematics Day
Sponsored by ESU Department of Mathematics & Economics
Every year high school students from schools across the state head to Emporia State University to test their math skills against each other during Math Day. This friendly math competition is held every year in October. Students compete individually and as a team in Algebra, Geometry and a catch all category called Math Scramble.
Schools are classified as Division I (4A, 5A, 6A, Private) or Division II (1A, 2A, 3A). Private schools must compete in Division I. All students take the same test, but trophies and medals are awarded on a division basis.
Graphing calculators are needed for the Algebra Team Contest and are recommended for the other contests. Please have students bring them with them.
Results of the top 50% of participants are posted on the website within two weeks of the contest. Results are not mailed out or given over the phone.
For contest-related questions, contact Dr. Connie Schrock at 620-341-5631.
